8 Week Workshops

Beginning & Intermediate Wheel Throwing

$200

Calendar Sep 8, 2020 at 10 am, runs for 8 weeks

This class is appropriate for beginning and intermediate students and will focus on the development of fundamental wheel throwing skills.  New students will work through the entire cycle of making wheel thrown pottery, from shaping wet clay to glazing.  While experienced students will be guided through more advanced projects of their choosing.

Demonstrations will focus on the skills of wedging, centering clay on the wheel, use of tools to make basic shapes such as cups and bowls, and trimming, glazing and finishing techniques. Students will enjoy individual attention as skill progression is unique to each person. 

The class includes 25lbs. of clay, studio glazes and firing. Additional clay is available in the studio store.

Wear old clothes, and bring an old towel and bring or buy a beginner's set of pottery tools to the first class. And invite a friend to sign up with you!

Wednesday Evening - Handbuilding & Wheel

$200

Calendar Sep 9, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 8 weeks

This class is designed for any skill level and will focus on all aspects of ceramic sculpture and wheel throwing from concept to completion. We will discuss elements of 3-dimensional design, methods of constructing with clay, and surface treatments.

Students will design work based on personal interest and will be encouraged to stretch their imaginations. We will experiment with several different techniques including wheel throwing fundamentals, modeling and slab building. Students will finish their work using a range of surface treatments including texture, ceramic glaze, and polychrome.

Group demonstrations and instruction will be based on students’ interests and questions. Individual instruction will be provided at each class to promote student success. This class is intended for adults 18 years and older.

Class includes 25lbs. of clay, studio glazes and firing. Additional clay is available in the studio store. Wear old clothes, and bring an old towel and a beginner's set of pottery tools to the first class.

So bring a set of old clothes to change into and have a ball!

“Throwing Fundamentals”

$200

Calendar Sep 10, 2020 at 2 pm, runs for 8 weeks

We will start with cylinders and bowls but then move on to vessels with handles and jars with lids too. Each form requires different throwing skills and tricks.

We will also make various tools during the class and also discuss various decorative techniques. One bag of cone 6 clay included in the class fee. 

This class will be a fast-track 8 week session that will teach you the basics for throwing bowls, mugs, pitchers and covered jars by a master potter.
